Well it seems that since spring dropped off the calendar, the pups had to come in summer, just to even things out a bit. We have a new litter that just arrived a few days ago! Rusty and Tanner are the dam and sire – you can find pictures of them on our Breeding Dogs web page. There are 10 pups in the litter, and all happy and healthy! We have seven males and three females. It’s a bit lopsided as far as litters go, but males are also often the easier dogs to train and handle. They come from a very mild mannered sire: Tanner will hold his ground against any other male but he adores people and would sell his soul for a belly-rub. The combination of energy and mild manners makes for great pets and hunters. There are a few pictures of past litters on various pages of our website, and since Tanner is our stud dog for all the litters, there will be quite a similarity in looks.
For pictures or more information, just shoot us an email! We’re happy to send photos of the pups from Wednesday and answer any questions you have!
New pups are not the only excitement lately. Since June began, the three kids still in grade school have begun training their respective dogs. The fair is coming up soon, so they’re working on obedience on- and off-leash, but equally important is hunting season – just around the corner from August. We train the dogs in distance retrieves, blind retrieves and etc so that when the time comes to get those ducks, they’re ready and waiting! Hopefully it will be a rewarding year both at the fair and in the field with the Goldens this summer and fall.
